Nicky coordinates and teaches in the Climate Change Studies Program. She has a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, an MS in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana, and is pursuing a PhD through Prescott College in Sustainability Education. Her doctoral research focuses ways to negotiate different views and approaches toward mitigating climate change. She co-teaches the introductory Climate Change: Science and Society course and develops experiential learning opportunities for students through internships, practicums, and field courses. She has lead field-based climate change education programs in Bhutan, Vietnam, and Montana.
Harper Kaufman is a Senior at the University of Montana. She is majoring in Religious Studies and minoring in Climate Change Studies. She grew up in the mountains of western Colorado and spent two years after high school at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Her blooming environmental concerns drove her to move to Missoula in August 2011. Once in Missoula, she fell in love with the surrounding wilderness areas, farmlands, national parks, ecosystems, and wildlife. The Climate Change Studies program stood out as an excellent option for her to learn ways to help protect her new home and the world we live in.
