Our Approach to Education

The Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management offers a multidisciplinary program featuring social, ecological, and political dimensions

Our faculty is active in the field both nationally and internationally ensuring we are up-to-date regarding the contemporary issues and needs in the profession

  • Yet we remain deeply committed to teaching students both in and out of the classroom to ensure students are armed with the most up-to-date skills and abilities
  • We pair each student with a faculty mentor who will work with the student throughout their career to help design the educational and career paths that best meet their specific goals

We seek to balance practice with theory:

  • In addition to traditional courses, each student completes a 6-9 credit professional internship that provides direct work experience with an approved agency, firm, or nonprofit organization
  • This first-hand knowledge gives students confidence in their abilities and a leg up on future jobs, since they acquire the specialized skills and practical knowledge attractive to future employers
