Student Services

The College of Forestry and Conservation (CFC) not only offers Native American students an outstanding undergraduate curriculum but also a support system through the Native American Natural Resources Program (NANRP). The program offers both in-house services and referral services to students and their families.

• Academic and financial aid advising

• Faculty mentors/advisors--provide academic advising, assist students with locating internship/research opportunities (see Native American Mentoring Program), and career counseling.

• Internship/Seasonal Job Placement--The CFC maintains the Student Employment Placement Office (SEPO) through which employers advertise seasonal positions, internships and full-time job openings.
  
• American Indian Peer Mentoring Program--offered by the American Indian Student Services.
  
• Scholarship Searches--The Native American Studies Department offers a variety of scholarships to Native American students attending the University of Montana. Please see the NAS scholarship web site for eligibility requirements and application proceedures. The College of Forestry and Conservation also awards 59 scholarships each year. The NANRP staff will help students locate additional scholarship options.
  
• Tutoring--NANRP will work with students to meet their tutoring needs. There are also two tutoring options on campus:

• The Office of American Indian Student Services (AISS) provides services to all Native students on campus. AISS identifies and provides intervention strategies that help students realize their academic potential while at the same time making sure the University understands these diverse needs.

• The Native American Studies Department provides all Native American students on campus with access to a computer lab and printing services, short-term loans, a phone to call home, and other student support services.

• TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS) offers eligible students many more academic resources. Be sure to check out the valuable study skills course offered by TRIO SSS.
