Boundary Waters Research Wins Award

The US Forest Service recently recognized former PhD student Bob Dvorak and CFC faculty member Bill Borrie with the Excellence in Wilderness Stewardship Research Award for research they conducted on visitor use in the Boundary Waters Canoe Areas Wilderness. Their collaborative paper, written with Ann Schwaller, Alan Watson, and Neal Christensen from the USFS, the Superior National Forest, and the Rocky Mountain Research Station, looked at trends in visitor use and user characteristics. The Forest Service states "This important research will help the Forest Service be more effective in addressing wilderness stewardship and meeting the intent of the Wilderness Act, the 10-year Wilderness Stewardship Challenge, and forest plan standards."
