Personal Summary

I am lucky to be working on improving tools for population monitoring so that we, as biologist and managers, can make more informed and better decisions around species conservation efforts. I am able to do this through a partnership between Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the University of Montana Wildlife Biology Program. My research focuses on comparing and contrasting disparate field and analytical methods to estimate the abundance and distribution of low density species (specifically, mountain goats in Idaho). How cool is that?  When I am not thinking bout how to use mathematics as a tool better model biological systems, I am usually out on the trails running, biking or skiing depending on the season.
