The official email for students is through UMConnect hosted by Microsoft.

The University of Montana requires all employees to have an official UM email account. Your UM email address will typically be firstname.lastname@example.org. All official university communications are sent to your umontana address including emergency notifications. You are required to use the university email system for all university-related email communications.
Initially, you will be assigned a university email address in the form of email@example.com. However, you need to take the additional step of activating your official umontana email address which will then be tied to this MSO email address.
How to I get an employee email account?
When you are hired, your information is sent to the CFC IT office and your account is created. If you attempt to login to your account and have problems do not hesitate to stop by our office in FOR 202 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I login to my employee email account?
Log in using UM Outlook Web: http://messaging.umt.edu
Initial Password: Last six digits of your 790 number.
How do I change my email password?
- Log into UM Outlook Web at https://messaging.umt.edu/
- Click on Options in the upper right corner
- Choose Change Password
