Montana Forest Conservation Experiment Station (MFCES)
The Montana Forest and Conservation Experiment Station (MFCES) is a state-wide agency and the research unit of the College of Forestry and Conservation. It was founded in 1937 and is responsible for administering a very active research and outreach program across Montana and the World. A wide variety of projects are on-going at any time with Climate Change, Protected Area Management, Wildlife Biology, Water Resources, Landscape Ecology, Applied Forest Management, and Wildland Fire being really significant topics in the first decade of the 21st Century.

Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
The Department of Environmental Quality's mission is to protect, sustain, and improve a clean and healthful environment to benefit present and future generations. Govenor Brian Schweitzer in 2005 asked the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to form a Climate Change Advisory Committee to thoroughly study the impact of climate change in Montana. The Montana Climate Change Advisory Committee (MCCAC) had 18 members representing industry, environmental concerns, local and tribal governments, transportation, and agriculture. Visit the DEQ Climate Change in Montana website for further information.
Member of the American Association of State Climatologist
The mission of the National Climate Services Partnership is to effectively provide the nation with high-quality, timely, and relevant climate services. This comes at a time when the demand for climate services is at record levels and is expected to continue growing. The National Climate Services Partnership, comprised of national and regional centers and American Association of State Climatologists (AASC) recognized state climate offices, was created to meet this need.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Partners: State Climatologists
State climate offices provide climate services at the state and local level in partnership with NOAA and other federal agencies, including the Regional Climate Centers (RCC), Regionally Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program, the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), the National Weather Service (NWS), and the USDA's Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS). State climate offices (SCO) have experienced first-hand the increased demand of climate services, driven by the interest in climate change and society's increased sensitivity to climate and weather events.
