The following is a list of projects we are currently pursuing:
Daily and monthly data from approximately four-thousand climate stations has been compiled. The dataset is being internally reviewed and should be published on the MCO distribution site within the next few weeks.
Datasets of eight-day, monthly, and statistical means of satellite data for Montana and surrounding areas has been publised. The products include greenness, enhanced greenness, evapotranspiration, and potential evapotranspiration. These datasets are assigned a pre-release status. The Montana Climate Office is assessing any bias in geographic position and value introduced when data is transformed from a sinusoidal projection to a Montana State Plane projection. When that assessment has concluded, all datasets will be re-issued. In the meantime, these datasets are suitable for use at the county, tribal, or watershed level. These datasets will be elevated to review status when the datasets are re-issued and metadata has been completed.
- Submitting grant proposals for funding of future investigative work
- Completing application to the American Association of State Climatologist
- Submitted application to Montana Land Information Advisory Council to have climate recognized as a statewide framework layer under the Montana Spatial Data Infrastructure
