Personal Summary

I am a marine biologist by training, with broad interests in ecology and conservation biology. My research focused on seabirds and benthic invertebrates (foraminifera) off the east coast of Canada. I worked as a seabird biologist for the Canadian Wildlife Service in the eastern Canadian Arctic for four years, and since then have been involved in research and teaching in Arizona, Costa Rica, Botswana, and New Zealand.

Teaching Experience

I have taught scientific writing at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Montana for 10 years. I have also tutored writing at the Writing Center at the University of Montana, at Missoula middle schools and high schools with Writing Coaches of Missoula, and at the Missoula Detention Center. I have written for several natural history museums, newspapers, and periodicals over the years, focusing on subjects related to biology.
