Plum Creek Distinguished Lecture Series

The Plum Creek Distinguished Lecture Series was funded through a gift to The University of Montana from Plum Creek Timber Company in 1994. The series and the PhD fellow who coordinates the lectures, aims to attract outstanding visiting lecturers to UM to discuss relevant natural resource topics.

Plum Creek Timber Company is one of the largest landowners in the United States; at the end of 2011, it owned 897,000 acres of timberland in Montana. The company produces lumber, plywood and medium density fiberboard (MDF) in its wood products manufacturing facilities in the Northwest. Plum Creek also operates a real estate development business which is a taxable REIT subsidiary. Plum Creek employs more than 1,200 people across 19 states.
