As a selected Future Scholar, Angela Meyer has been invited to attend the National Recreation and Park Association Annual Congress as a guest of the Academy of Leisure Sciences and the Society of Park and Recreation Educators (SPRE). The Future Scholars Program provides graduate students pursing a doctorate in an area related to recreation and leisure studies the opportunity to meet outstanding researchers and scholars in their field.

Theresa Dahl, a graduate student in Ecosystem and Conservation Sciences under the direction of Professor Diana Six, was a winner of a best poster award at the 8th Annual UM Graduate Student and Faculty Research Symposium held April 11, 2009. Her poster featured work on the Role of Fungal Nutrient Utilization in a Bark Beetle-Fungus Mutualism.

CFC Ph.D. student, Courtney Schultz presented research at the American Institute of Biological Science's Annual Meeting on May 24-25, 2006. Her poster, outlining this research, won the best student poster award for science and policy. Schultz is collaborating with Dr. Martin Nie.

CFC Professor, Steve Running heads a team of researchers and programmers that are writing remote sensing software for NASA satellites to monitor global climate change.
