Parents, Welcome to the College of Forestry and Conservation

College of Forestry and Conservation Front DoorsThe College of Forestry and Conservation acts much like an extended family – as a self-contained, relatively small academic unit, it provides personal attention, advising, and mentoring for each student.  At the same time, the College has a cosmopolitan flair, reaching out to each student with a network of new friends, experienced counsel, challenging academic choices, and loyal support of faculty and staff to build confidence, responsibility, and a commitment to quality performance.

The College of Forestry and Conservation presents a range of opportunities for students to stretch and grow: coursework that combines high-tech laboratories with backcountry field exercises; student clubs that promote leadership and social responsibility; and internationally recognized speakers and conferences that reveal unimagined pathways to the future.  The unique, unspoiled setting of the campus and the College’s impressive experimental forest allow students to be in direct contact with natural systems and their processes: it’s one thing to talk about a big-horned sheep, it’s quite another to stand right next to one on a mountainside.  Here is a place where students can test the waters of a host of potential careers and find one that gives them the energy and purpose to make a difference.

Parents are frequently interested in a variety of topics about a college experience, and the series of web links below offers detailed information on topics such as college costs, financial aid, housing, and work/career opportunities.  There’s also a link to the city of Missoula, because there’s nothing better than to experience the campus first hand.  Come any time.  Parents are the most important teachers of all, and we’d be delighted to have you share in this extraordinary, formative experience.
