PTRM alum found his passion for the outdoors at UM
Jeff Ozimek came to UM from Chicago and now manages the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan park and Recreation District's outdoor program. He's an outdoor enthusiast who got into competitive logging sports while working on his degree. He graduated from UM in 2005 and went on to work on trail in Utah, teach kids to sail in Massachusetts and lead a sailing program in the Virgin Islands, among other adventures. Ozimek built the recreation program on Bainbridge Island from the ground up and calls it his dream job. He's created adventure opportunities like star-watching and rock climbing for toddlers, that help local residents explore the outdoors.
Local newspaper the Kitsap Sun recently profiled Ozimek and how he gets thousands of people outside, from clamming to climbing. Read the first part of the story in the Kitsap Sun or the entire feature in this pdf file.
